At the outbreak of world war 2 Britain had more than ten shipyards capable of building battleships and the capacity to make the steel for ourselves. This plant closed at the end of last year and where are our shipyards now? Still as long as the bankers are getting their bonuses!
SOLD - Just before the blast furnace was restarted after closure.
SOLD - When you are this close it is not the size but the smell and heat that impresses.
SOLD- I liked the idea of this blast furnace sitting on top of a field of gold. This was shortlisted by Artists and Illustrators magazine for its landscapes artist of the year in 2012.
At the side of Corus Steel is the very active coking plant needed to fire the blast furnace.
An almost boat free marine painting. Is this the future for our traditional northern harbours.
